Role Summary
Senior Digital and FPGA Engineer responsible for designing and delivering FPGA-based systems for lasers, scanners, and inspection systems. The role covers architecture, RTL, verification, hardware bring-up, lab debugging, system integration, and production support while collaborating with hardware and software teams.
Based in Marlborough, MA; work includes hands-on lab testing and cross-disciplinary engineering to move products from concept to production.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading FPGA projects, developing real-time control algorithms, and supporting system integration and production.
- Lead complex FPGA development projects from concept through production on Intel/Altera and AMD/Xilinx FPGA, SoC, MPSoC, and RFSoC platforms.
- Design and implement FPGA-based motion control solutions for XYZ/rotary stages, galvanometers, and precision positioning systems.
- Develop FPGA algorithms for optical scan control, high-speed signal processing, machine vision, and real-time control.
- Perform hands-on system integration, bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting of electro-optical and electromechanical systems.
- Develop FPGA architecture, RTL, verification environments, simulation infrastructure, and hardware validation test platforms.
- Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for FPGA verification, testing, and release management.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, verification, documentation, and system-level debugging.
- Provide production support and collaborate with software and hardware teams to deliver products to production release.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- 5+ years FPGA RTL development experience using Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- 3+ years software development experience in C, C++, C#, Python, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with QuestaSim, Vivado, and Quartus development environments.
- Proven ability to take FPGA designs from RTL through verification, timing closure, bitstream generation, hardware bring-up, and production support.
- Experience integrating FPGA designs with ARM-based SoCs running Linux.
- Solid understanding of clock domain crossing (CDC) and synchronization techniques.
- Proficiency with Git and modern CI/CD development workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred. Electrical Engineering is the preferred field of study.
