Job Title
Sr Field Applications Engineer (FAE)
Role Summary
Technical lead for analog and power solutions working with customers to drive system-level designs from concept to production. Provide pre- and post-design support including schematic review, component selection, debugging, and cross-functional coordination to secure design wins.
Work closely with sales, product teams, and customers to translate component expertise into reliable system solutions and influence product roadmaps through field feedback.
Experience Level
Senior — 6+ years of experience in analog and power electronics in design, applications, or customer-facing engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for power architectures, hands-on lab validation, and customer enablement.
- Lead customer power-architecture development: power-tree design, device selection, and system optimization.
- Perform technical design reviews, root-cause analysis, and hands-on debugging of complex analog and power issues.
- Evaluate new products and position Renesas analog/power portfolio (PMICs, DC/DC, LDOs, battery-management, signal-chain).
- Conduct board bring-up, measurements, validation, and failure analysis in the lab.
- Support system-level integration across power, processor, and connectivity subsystems.
- Provide direct technical guidance to accelerate customer designs to production and revenue.
- Deliver customer training, technical seminars, and internal enablement material.
- Collect and relay field feedback to influence product roadmaps and feature priorities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, customer-facing experience, and workplace expectations.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in analog and power electronics in design, applications, or customer-facing roles.
- Proven ability to lead customers through architecture, debug, and production readiness for power subsystems.
- Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills with sales, FAEs, distribution, product marketing, and business units.
- Experience delivering technical presentations, training, and workshops to customers and internal teams.
- Hands-on lab proficiency: board bring-up, measurement, validation, and failure analysis.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%–20%.
Nice-to-have:
- Deep expertise in power conversion and management (buck/boost, PMICs, LDOs, power-tree sequencing, battery-powered systems).
- Experience with analog signal chains (amplifiers, data converters, filtering, noise, stability, signal integrity) and power/thermal integrity considerations.
- Familiarity with power interaction with MCUs/MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces, AI platforms, and connectivity subsystems.
- Proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal-analysis tools, transient-response measurements.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. (No other degrees, certifications, or equivalent‑experience language specified.)
