Sr. Engineer, RTL Implementation
Role Summary
Join the CPU design team to implement and optimize RTL and physical flows for a RISC-V CPU. Iterate front-end CAD flows across multiple process technologies and collaborate with micro-architects and cross-functional teams to deliver timing- and power-converged CPU designs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Exact level and compensation will be determined during the interview process.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform synthesis and initial place-and-route for new and legacy CPU designs across multiple process technologies.
- Iterate front-end CAD flows and run timing/power experiments to meet PPA targets.
- Collaborate closely with core micro-architects to optimize core configurations for performance, power, and area.
- Work with DV, PD, RTL, and performance teams to deliver functional, timing-, and power-converged designs.
- Enhance physical design environment, tools, and methodologies to improve development efficiency and results.
- Analyze physical design experiment results and recommend optimizations.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications:
- Proven experience in high-performance physical design and place-and-route flows.
- Proficient in RTL coding (Verilog/VHDL) and familiar with simulation and power analysis tools.
- Skilled with synthesis and place-and-route tools and physical design methodology.
- Background in CPU microarchitecture and experience driving PPA improvements.
- Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology (citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to obtain required license).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RISC-V CPU designs and multi-process technology flows.
- Experience integrating open-source and industry-standard tools into physical flows.
- History of cross-disciplinary collaboration with DV, PD, and performance teams.
