Senior Engineer, Design (SoC DFT)

Role Summary

Design and verify custom System-on-Chip (SoC) features with a focus on Design-for-Test (DFT) including ATPG, MBIST, LBIST, scan insertion, and analog test solutions. Collaborate with design, verification, backend and test teams through the silicon lifecycle to deliver testable, manufacturable designs.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing DFT features, generating and optimizing test patterns, and supporting silicon bring-up and production analysis.

• Implement DFT architectures: ATPG, MBIST, LBIST, scan insertion and analog test features under manager guidance.
• Generate and optimize test patterns to reduce test time while maximizing coverage and yield.
• Integrate DFT requirements into RTL and physical design stages in coordination with design and backend teams.
• Apply standardized DFT methodologies and flows across projects to ensure repeatability and quality.
• Develop automation scripts (Tcl, Python, Perl) for pattern creation, validation and analysis.
• Analyze test data from silicon bring-up and production to support root-cause debugging and process improvements.
• Document DFT implementations and reuse IP for team knowledge sharing.
• Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements in all activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and workplace abilities; preferred skills listed separately.

• Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals.
• Practical experience with Verilog or SystemVerilog (coursework or project experience acceptable).
• Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Tcl/Tk, Perl) for automation.
• Ability to analyze technical problems, debug complex systems, and communicate findings clearly.
• Self-motivated, collaborative team player with willingness to learn new tools and methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional technical team.

Preferred:

• Experience using Git or another version-control system.
• Experience debugging simulation results using logs and waveforms.
• Familiarity with running EDA design tools in a UNIX environment.
• Experience with test pattern generation/ATPG tool flows and DFT automation.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience. The posting also indicates suitability for recent graduates or engineers with up to two years of experience.
