Sr. Director Silicon Design Engineering
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Sr. Director Silicon Design Engineering
Role Summary
Lead AMD's mixed-signal IP analog design organization to define, architect, execute, and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal IP for future SoCs. Manage multiple cross-geography teams and drive technical direction, delivery quality, and operational efficiency.
Experience Level
Senior — PhD with ~10 years relevant experience or Master’s with ~15 years; executive leadership responsibility managing multiple teams and large projects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include team leadership, technical direction, and delivery of mixed-signal IP:
- Lead and manage several analog design teams across North America and India.
- Plan and execute analog/mixed-signal projects; manage schedule, priorities, and schedule risk.
- Provide technical direction; participate in architecture and microarchitecture decisions for mixed-signal IP.
- Drive definition and adoption of development flows to improve efficiency and execution quality.
- Coordinate cross-discipline work with Layout, Logical Design, Physical Design, Firmware, Design Verification, and Post-Silicon Validation teams across time zones.
- Ensure deliverable quality, mitigate risks, and support post-silicon activities including bring-up, platform validation, characterization, parameter optimization, and productization.
- Recruit, hire, conduct performance reviews, coach, and develop talent.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills (must-have vs. nice-to-have):
- Must-have: Proven track record managing and leading large analog design teams and delivering successful high-speed analog tape-outs into production.
- Must-have: Strong expertise with industry-standard analog/mixed-signal and high-speed design tools and best practices.
- Must-have: Advanced knowledge of deep submicron semiconductor technologies, including FinFETs.
- Must-have: Strong technical judgment, risk mitigation, execution discipline, and effective communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with flows and practices in modeling, RTL, design verification, and firmware.
- Nice-to-have: Analytical, inventive problem-solving approach and a team-first mentality.
Education Requirements
Master's degree plus ~15 years of relevant experience, or PhD plus ~10 years of relevant experience. Prefer degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
