Job Title

Senior Design Engineer

Role Summary

Staff physical-design engineer responsible for executing and leading ASIC physical implementation projects (floorplanning through signoff) for Cadence Korea. The role focuses on physical implementation, verification, and methodology development for advanced-node, low-power and high-speed designs.

Works with RTL designers and cross-functional teams to deliver tapeouts and improve physical-design flows and automation.

Experience Level

Senior - requires substantial experience; the posting specifies 9+ years of ASIC design and physical implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Primary hands-on and leadership responsibilities include:

  • Perform floorplanning, power-grid design, placement, routing, and clock tree synthesis.
  • Drive timing closure, static timing analysis, and STA-related optimizations.
  • Execute power and signal integrity signoff, EM/IR analysis, and crosstalk evaluations.
  • Perform physical verification tasks: DRC, LVS, antenna checks, and DFM closure.
  • Participate in or lead development of next-generation physical-design methodologies and flows.
  • Collaborate with RTL teams to ensure successful tapeouts and handoff quality.
  • Verify, test, and characterize designs; take ownership of technical deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes:

  • 9+ years experience with ASIC design flow and hierarchical physical-design strategies.
  • Deep understanding of sub-micron technology issues and advanced-node implementation challenges.
  • Strong expertise in low-power design techniques, DFT, static timing analysis, and timing closure.
  • Experience with place-and-route, clock tree synthesis, power-grid design, EM/IR-drop analysis, and crosstalk analysis.
  • Proven experience with physical verification (DRC/LVS/antenna), signoff flows, and DFM practices.
  • Hands-on, able to verify and characterize own designs; able to work independently and lead technical tasks.
  • Good English communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience developing physical-design methodology, flows, or automation.
  • Prior work on low-power, high-speed designs at leading technology nodes.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
