Job Title

Sr. CPU RTL Front End Methodology Engineer

Role Summary

Lead and implement front-end RTL methodologies for high-performance CPU designs, focusing on RTL coding, logic optimization, verification readiness, and effective use of AI-assisted tools. Work on CPU microarchitecture teams to improve scalability, performance, power, area, and timing across designs.

The role requires hands-on technical leadership, collaboration with architecture and backend teams, and delivering tooling and practices that increase engineering efficiency and product quality.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires substantial industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree vs. experience combinations). Expected: multi-year silicon development and leadership experience (minimums described in qualifications).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive and evolve RTL front-end methodologies and coding standards.
  • Develop tools, scripts, and techniques to optimize RTL for power, performance, area, and timing.
  • Integrate and apply AI tools and workflows to improve RTL development, coding, and debug productivity.
  • Collaborate with architecture, microarchitecture, backend, and verification teams to ensure design feasibility and handoff quality.
  • Provide technical leadership on IP projects, mentor engineers, and advocate best practices across teams.
  • Participate in architectural and microarchitectural design discussions to ensure front-end scalability and flexibility.

Requirements

Minimum must-have skills and experience:

  • 6+ years of silicon development experience focused on CPU logic.
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience delivering IP projects.
  • Proven hands-on experience with RTL coding, debug, and front-end methodology development.
  • Practical understanding of both front-end and back-end flows and how front-end decisions impact physical design.
  • Experience applying AI tools or automation to improve RTL engineering productivity and quality.
  • Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Experience with x86 CPU microarchitecture and x86 memory-management execution.
  • Track record of driving front-end methodology adoption and demonstrating measurable product-level benefits from AI/automation.

Education Requirements

One of the following or equivalent practical experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field with 12+ years' experience; Master's degree in those fields with 10+ years' experience; or PhD in those fields with 6+ years' experience. Related technical fields and equivalent practical experience are acceptable.
