Sr BEOL Engineer - DRAM Process Integration
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Sr BEOL Engineer - DRAM Process Integration
Role Summary
Senior engineer in the back-end-of-line (BEOL) process-integration group within R&D, responsible for developing, optimizing, and integrating DRAM BEOL process flows. The role partners with module, device, reliability, and manufacturing teams to resolve integration issues and drive production readiness.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting requires a Master's plus at least 2 years' relevant experience or a PhD (or equivalent experience); expect mid-career to senior responsibilities and technical leadership in process integration.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include process development, data analysis, cross-functional problem resolution, and documentation.
- Develop, optimize, and integrate semiconductor BEOL process flows for DRAM.
- Investigate and resolve integration issues across metallization, dielectrics, etch, and CMP modules.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret process and electrical data to support yield and reliability improvements.
- Use AI-enabled modeling and analytical tools to identify patterns, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with module engineering, device engineering, reliability, and manufacturing for technical problem solving and process transfer.
- Participate in production-readiness and process-transfer activities; document and present technical findings and recommendations.
- Support research and technology-development activities within process integration.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing techniques: thin-film deposition, etch, lithography, and CMP.
- Familiarity with BEOL concepts including metallization, interconnects, dielectrics, and barrier/liner films.
- Hands-on experience with thin-film deposition or etch processes (examples: CVD, ALD, PVD).
- Experience with semiconductor device technologies and at least one of: process integration, yield improvement, or reliability testing.
- Ability to collect and analyze process and electrical data; experience with statistical-analysis tools such as JMP, Python, or R, and willingness to use AI-enabled analysis tools.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams and documenting technical results.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD, electrical testing).
- Experience with design-of-experiments methodology and semiconductor reliability principles (electromigration, TDDB, stress migration).
- Prior internship, co-op, research, or fab/R&D work experience.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related area with at least two (2) years of relevant experience. A PhD in these subjects or equivalent practical experience also qualifies. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in place of degree requirements.
