Sr. ASIC Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering)
Role Summary
Design and deliver RTL for next-generation ASICs used in Starlink space and ground systems. Work with systems, firmware, architecture, verification, and physical implementation teams to produce verified, synthesis- and timing-clean silicon that meets performance and power targets.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years of RTL implementation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture trade-offs, RTL implementation, verification support, and silicon bring-up.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs based on features, performance requirements, and system constraints.
- Define micro-architecture and implement RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog; integrate into top-level deliverables.
- Deliver fully verified, synthesis- and timing-clean designs and provide timing constraints for IP.
- Collaborate closely with verification and physical implementation teams (synthesis, timing closure, formality checks).
- Participate in silicon bring-up and validation activities.

- Must-have: 5+ years experience in RTL implementation and strong proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog; experience delivering synthesis- and timing-clean designs and supporting timing closure.
- Must-have: Experience collaborating with verification and physical implementation teams and participating in silicon bring-up and validation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience solving clock-domain crossing issues, power optimization, ASIC/SoC system integration, embedded CPU subsystems, and standard bus protocols (AXI, AHB).
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with high-speed and low-power design techniques, scripting (e.g. Python), and EDA tools such as HDL simulators and lint tools.
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
