Sr. ASIC Design Engineer
Hewlett Packard EnterpriseJob Title
Sr. ASIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the HPE Networking Silicon group to design high-speed ASIC modules used in routers and switches. You will take functional specifications through micro-architecture and RTL implementation, and collaborate with physical design and verification teams to deliver tapeout-ready blocks.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years of relevant ASIC/RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver RTL modules from specification to validated netlist and support physical/timing closure.
- Convert functional specifications into detailed micro-architecture meeting power/area targets.
- Implement designs in Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Develop functional coverage and SVA to exercise corner cases.
- Collaborate with Physical Design for floorplanning and timing closure; identify and fix RTL timing issues.
- Work with Verification to ensure block-level validation.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and interns.
Requirements
Key technical requirements and desirable skills.
- Must-have: Strong RTL coding skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog and proven experience delivering silicon-quality RTL.
- Must-have: Experience collaborating with Physical Design to achieve timing closure and optimize floorplan.
- Must-have: Familiarity with synthesis, lint, and standard EDA flows and tools.
- Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of computer architecture or networking protocols.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Perl/Python) and exposure to AI/agentic tools.
- Nice-to-have: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
