Sr. Applications Engineer (Aprisa)
Role Summary
Experienced Place & Route applications engineer to join Siemens EDA's US field team supporting Aprisa (Place & Route). The role leads technical engagements with tier‑1 customers, supports sales and R&D integration, and helps develop junior engineers and field processes for product go‑to‑market.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires over five years of industry experience working on place & route / backend flows and customer engagements.
Responsibilities
The role combines technical leadership, customer-facing support, and internal coordination. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead technical engagements with tier‑1 customers and own critical customer relationships.
- Perform P&R evaluations, benchmarking, and support design tape‑outs to meet PPA and TTR targets.
- Train and mentor junior applications engineers; document and share best practices.
- Coordinate across sales, R&D, technical support, marketing, and customer teams during deployments and evaluations.
- Develop and improve field processes and tooling for successful product adoption.
- Travel to customer sites and internal locations as required; maintain flexible hours to support global stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of required competencies follows.
- 5+ years industry experience in place & route, backend design, or related IC implementation roles.
- Proven working experience with one or more of: Innovus, IC Compiler I/II, Aprisa, Nitro‑SoC.
- Hands-on experience with RTL→GDS flows at advanced nodes, including P&R evaluations/benchmarking and tape‑outs.
- Deep practical knowledge of floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, signal & power integrity, and static timing analysis.
- Expert scripting and automation skills (TCL, Unix command line); strong familiarity with Verilog and UPF data formats.
- Strong communication, organization, and customer-facing skills required for technical sales support and cross‑team coordination.
- Nice-to-have: prior applications or AE role in EDA, experience launching or scaling a field team, or experience with multi‑site/global customer support.
Education Requirements
At least a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), Electronic/Embedded Physics (EP), Computer Science (CS), VLSI, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
