Spring 2027 Engineering Placement Intern

Role Summary

AMD is recruiting engineering interns to join teams supporting verification, validation, and system integration for CPU, GPU and FPGA products. Interns will work on test plans, simulation, tooling, and low-level hardware/software debugging alongside senior engineers.

This is a full-time, onsite internship in Dublin running January 15, 2027 through August 13, 2027.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students (undergraduate, masters or PhD) currently enrolled in university programs.

Responsibilities

Typical assignments include verification, validation, tooling and system-level testing. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and execute performance verification test plans, simulations and models.
  • Write and maintain scripts for compute/resource tracking and test automation using Perl, Python, Shell, or similar.
  • Run and validate regression flows and assist with test infrastructure (Perl/Python/MySQL/PHP as used).
  • Review and improve tools and processes to boost simulation performance and team efficiency.
  • Support debugging and improvement of test cases, models and RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL).
  • Assemble test platforms and perform system-level and production validation testing.
  • Perform low-level hardware/software testing, debug technical issues and identify root causes.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Practical programming experience (C, C++, Python, Perl, Shell).
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL) and digital design fundamentals.
  • Experience developing or debugging software/hardware in Linux/Unix/Windows environments.
  • Understanding of digital systems and computer organization (FSM, timing, registers, HDL).
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer) and hands-on hardware debugging.

Nice-to-have:

  • UVM, embedded software, or embedded AI experience.
  • Analogue circuit or silicon design exposure, PCIe verification, CPU/APU system knowledge.
  • Experience with MySQL/PHP, system-level validation, or building and configuring PCs.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled at an Ireland-based university in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field (undergraduate, masters or PhD students eligible).
