Solutions Engineer - Sr Staff, DFT / Design for Test
Role Summary
Senior applications engineering role focused on design-for-test (DFT) solutions for ASIC/SoC customers. The engineer partners with customers and internal teams to define, implement, and validate DFT flows and troubleshooting processes.
Primary mission: enable successful adoption and deployment of DFT methodologies and tooling across customer designs, and feed technical requirements back into product development.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 7+ years of experience in DFT, ASIC design, or EDA; or equivalent technical experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead customer engagements to define DFT requirements and solution architecture.
- Develop and deliver DFT implementation plans, flows, and automation scripts for ASIC/SoC designs.
- Execute and analyze ATPG, scan insertion, compression, BIST, and related DFT flows.
- Debug test-related failures across RTL, gate-level simulation, and silicon bring-up.
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to reproduce issues and provide actionable feedback.
- Create technical collateral, application notes, and customer training materials.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives within applications engineering.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
- Must have: Extensive hands-on experience with DFT methodologies (scan insertion, ATPG, compression, BIST) and ASIC/SoC development.
- Must have: Strong RTL knowledge (Verilog/VHDL) and familiarity with gate-level flows and timing concepts.
- Must have: Proficiency in scripting (Tcl, Python) and automating EDA flows.
- Must have: Customer-facing experience with strong technical communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Nice to have: Experience with Synopsys DFT tools and other commercial EDA toolchains.
- Nice to have: Experience with silicon bring-up, lab debug, failure analysis, or performance optimization.
