Solutions and Tool Specialist β Functional Safety
Role Summary
The Solutions and Tool Specialist will develop and maintain reusable safety-analysis infrastructure and templates (starting with Medini Analyze component libraries) to support functional safety assessments across multiple ADI product families. The role sits within the Functional Safety Office (FSO) and focuses on tooling, reusable assets, and training that improve consistency and efficiency of safety engineering.
This is a cross-portfolio enabling role that works with Safety Specialists, product engineering teams, and tool vendors to scale safety analysis and enable broader adoption of structured safety methods.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects approximately 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in semiconductor design, quality, systems engineering, or similar.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on building reusable analysis assets, standardizing templates, and enabling teams through tooling and training.
- Develop and maintain Medini Analyze component libraries for FMEDA, FTA, and dependent failure analysis.
- Standardize analysis templates and parameterized modeling patterns for reuse across product families.
- Translate product-family-specific safety architectures into reusable components to reduce setup time for assessments.
- Support creation of role-based training materials for FMEDA execution, safety case construction, and safety requirements writing.
- Engage with tool vendors (e.g., Synopsys-Ansys Medini Analyze) on capability evaluation and feature requests.
- Participate in confirmation reviews and safety assessments while developing domain expertise under mentorship.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and work style for immediate contribution.
- 5+ years in semiconductor design engineering, quality engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor product development processes and lifecycle.
- Experience with structured analytical methods used in product development (e.g., FMEA, design verification, characterization, simulation, reliability analysis).
- Experience building reusable technical assets: component libraries, parameterized templates, structured workflows, or design tools.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills to convert complex methods into usable guidance.
- Self-directed work style suitable for a globally distributed team; willing to travel ~10% to ADI sites in Europe and the US.
Nice-to-have (preferred):
- Experience with safety analysis methods specifically (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA), including failure mode identification and classification.
- Familiarity with Synopsys-Ansys Medini Analyze or comparable safety-analysis tools (Isograph, ReliaSoft, APIS IQ, Safety Office).
- Conceptual familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
- Experience developing training content, knowledge-management systems, or technical curricula.
- Familiarity with automotive quality/development standards such as IATF 16949 or ASPICE.
Education Requirements
