SOI Design Intern
Role Summary
Internship role within SOI Design Engineering supporting High Performance Analog, Advanced Cellular, or Connectivity & Sensors teams. Work includes design, simulation, and lab validation of RF/analog blocks for silicon products.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Internship).
Responsibilities
Typical internship responsibilities include:
- Contribute to design of functional blocks such as LNAs and RF switches using SOI and CMOS.
- Generate and simulate EM models (HFSS) for silicon integration and validation.
- Perform schematic-level design, circuit simulations, and compare to lab measurements.
- Work with signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, and power meters to validate performance.
- Balance performance goals with size, cost, footprint, and schedule constraints.
- Present results to team and stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes; items labeled "Preferred" are not mandatory.
- Analog/RF circuit design coursework or practical experience.
- Experience with circuit design tools such as Cadence and RF tools (ADS or AWR).
- Familiarity with EM simulation tools (HFSS/FEM) or willingness to learn — Preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work on a team.
- Good organization, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to RF measurement equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers) — Preferred.
Education Requirements
Applicants must be currently enrolled students in an accredited college program (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD). The posting specifically targets graduate candidates (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is stated.
