Software Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and automate embedded system-level test scenarios for NXP automotive products to validate microcontroller functionality and low-level software. Work within a software validation team to improve test coverage and quality for automotive product lines (Body & Comfort, Gateway, ADAS, Powertrain & Chassis) following industry standards such as AUTOSAR.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Candidates with roughly 3+ years of relevant programming or embedded testing experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include designing, automating and executing tests, documenting results, and collaborating with development and product teams.

• Develop test scenarios that cover hardware features and low-level software behavior.
• Implement embedded test applications in C and scripts for automated test execution.
• Use and extend test tools and frameworks to automate test cases and test cycles.
• Debug embedded targets and analyze test failures to isolate root causes.
• Document test logs, create test reports and summaries, and track issues using JIRA or similar tools.
• Contribute to test strategy and coordinate testing objectives with development and product management.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills for the role.

Must-have

• Programming experience in ANSI C.
• Understanding of CPU/computer architecture and low-level embedded software.
• Debugging skills for embedded targets and low-level software.
• Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, Bash) and build scripts/Makefiles.
• Familiarity with testing methods (unit, integration, functional testing) and test automation.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Nice-to-have

• Experience with ARM or Power architectures and MCU peripherals (power management, external flash, etc.).
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR and ability to read schematics.
• Experience with Git or other version control and requirements-management tools.
• Familiarity with test/issue-tracking tools such as JIRA.
