Role Summary

Join Production Systems Engineering to design, build, and optimize systems software that manages Meta's global production hardware fleet (servers, storage, networking, and accelerators). The role focuses on reliability, efficiency, and performance of infrastructure software and close collaboration with hardware engineering, data center operations, and platform teams.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and operating software that manages large-scale production hardware and driving cross-functional hardware bring-up and integration.

• Design and develop systems software for provisioning, managing, and monitoring production compute, storage, and networking hardware.
• Build and maintain tooling for hardware lifecycle management, fleet health monitoring, and automated remediation.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering to define software interfaces and firmware integration for new server and accelerator platforms.
• Develop and optimize low-level systems software such as kernel modules, device drivers, and platform management agents.
• Architect scalable automation frameworks to accelerate hardware deployment and reduce operational toil.
• Analyze telemetry and diagnostics to identify and resolve systemic reliability and performance issues.
• Define technical direction for production systems software and align stakeholders across infrastructure and operations.
• Mentor other engineers on systems design, debugging, and production best practices.
• Lead cross-functional efforts for hardware bring-up, validation, and qualification workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and competencies for immediate contribution.

• 8+ years in systems software engineering with development in C, C++, or Python for Linux production environments.
• 6+ years working on large-scale infrastructure systems (hardware lifecycle management, fleet automation, or data center operations software).
• Experience with low-level system components (kernel interfaces, BMC/IPMI/Redfish, or hardware telemetry frameworks).
• Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems software at scale, including monitoring, alerting, and automated remediation.
• Strong written and verbal communication for documenting technical decisions and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice-to-have:

• Debugging across hardware/software boundaries.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in manufacturing, hardware validation, or large-scale distributed systems projects.
