Role Summary

Join the Cadence Digital and Signoff Group Machine Learning team to apply machine learning and deep-learning techniques to Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. The role focuses on researching ML approaches for EDA problems and implementing production-quality software that integrates those approaches into tool flows.

Responsibilities

The role combines research in ML/DL with software engineering to deliver ML-enabled EDA capabilities.

  • Research and develop machine learning and deep-learning approaches for EDA and system design problems.
  • Design, implement, verify, and maintain software components and APIs that integrate ML solutions into EDA tools.
  • Implement models and training pipelines using ML frameworks and integrate them into Linux-based development environments.
  • Collaborate with a worldwide, cross-functional team to define requirements, evaluate results, and deploy solutions.
  • Write clean, tested, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews and design discussions.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Strong software engineering background with proficiency in C/C++ and Python; experience developing on Linux.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with ML/DL frameworks such as scikit-learn and TensorFlow/Keras and familiarity with ML/DL algorithms.
  • Must-have: Ability to conduct applied ML research and translate results into working software.
  • Must-have: Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience or domain knowledge in VLSI CAD, digital signoff, or related EDA problems.
  • Nice-to-have: Graduate-level research or prior work applying advanced ML techniques to VLSI/CAD.

Education Requirements
