Staff Engineer — Software Engineering

Role Summary

Design and build AI-driven software that automates electronic design tasks and generates production-quality HDL/netlists. Work on LLM integrations, agent orchestration, and EDA pipeline integration as part of a cross-functional engineering team.

Experience Level

Senior level (Staff). Prior experience building production software and integrating LLMs into applications is expected.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include designing, implementing, and integrating AI systems for EDA workflows:

• Develop autonomous LLM-driven agents for tasks such as schematic capture and component selection.
• Architect and integrate EDA pipelines with AI orchestration frameworks.
• Design software abstractions and guardrails to make complex EE concepts usable for beginners.
• Build systems that generate valid HDL (Verilog/VHDL), netlists, and circuit topologies from natural language.
• Collaborate with AI researchers, UX designers, and electrical engineers to improve agent accuracy and usability.
• Define validation and human-in-the-loop processes to ensure reliable AI output.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

• Must-have: Strong software development skills in Python, C++, or TypeScript for production systems.
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with LLMs, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and model integration.
• Must-have: Experience with AI agentic frameworks and orchestration tools for autonomous decision-making software.
• Must-have: Ability to design abstractions and interfaces that translate domain expertise into reliable software behavior.
• Nice-to-have: Understanding of electronic design concepts (schematics, netlists, SPICE) and experience with EDA tools or hardware design workflows.
• Nice-to-have: Background building developer tools, low-code/no-code platforms, educational software, or tools targeted at novice users.
• Behavioral: Able to explain technical tradeoffs to non-engineers and work effectively across functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
