Software Engineering Intern, SWR

Role Summary

Internship position within Qorvo's Software R&D team in the Global Operations group. The intern will work with mentors on Design Automation and High-Performance Computing projects, using Python, REST APIs, and SQL to develop tools and integrations.

This role provides hands-on software engineering experience, mentorship, and exposure to real project deliverables.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current college students. Typical availability: 9 months (full-time first 3 months, part-time final 6 months).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include developing and supporting software tools and ensuring code quality and operational suitability.

• Create custom Python applications and utilities.
• Develop integrated graphical user interfaces.
• Analyze and benchmark software API calls and performance.
• Write and maintain unit tests and test frameworks.
• Evaluate operational practicality and support internal customers to resolve issues.
• Plan and produce efficient, well-structured code following best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes; preferred items noted separately.

• Must-have: Proficiency in Python; working knowledge of C++.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Familiarity with version control using Git.
• Comfort using IDEs for development and debugging.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving skills, and understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Availability for the stated internship length (9 months: full-time then part-time).

• Nice-to-have: Experience with unit testing frameworks.
• Experience with containers or virtualization (Docker, VMs).
• Familiarity with REST APIs and performance benchmarking.

Education Requirements

Required: Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program. Preferred field: Computer Science (College of Engineering) or a related engineering/computer science discipline. This internship is intended for students actively pursuing a degree.

Compensation: Competitive hourly pay noted in the posting: $31/hr - $42/hr (location-dependent).
