Software Engineering Director - AI (Applied AI & Agentic EDA Innovation)
SiemensJob Title
Software Engineering Director - AI (Applied AI & Agentic EDA Innovation)
Role Summary
Lead the engineering organization delivering industrial-grade generative and agentic AI capabilities tailored for electronic design automation (EDA). You will align product divisions, R&D, customers, and partners to build scalable, secure, and verifiable AI workflows that improve engineering productivity and design quality.
Experience Level
Senior - requires substantial leadership experience; the role specifies 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with 5+ years leading organizations delivering commercial EDA platforms or production-grade AI-enabled engineering systems.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical strategy, product delivery, and organizational leadership for Siemens EDA AI initiatives.
- Define and execute the roadmap for generative and agentic AI capabilities across EDA workflows (multi-agent orchestration, autonomous exploration, natural-language control, AI-driven design intelligence).
- Align architecture and platform efforts across Siemens EDA product lines to establish shared AI layers, unified APIs, common agent skills, and consistent telemetry.
- Engage with strategic customers and partners to co-develop agentic workflows, lead evaluations, and translate customer problems into product capabilities.
- Collaborate with foundries, IP providers, cloud partners, and ecosystem vendors to integrate PDKs, design rules, and IP protection into AI runtimes while ensuring governance and auditability.
- Architect scalable agent runtimes and tool-calling protocols that integrate with Siemens EDA tools and third-party environments while preserving deterministic fallbacks and signoff-quality validation.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead teams of applied AI engineers, EDA domain experts, agent architects, and MLOps engineers to deliver production-grade software.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; preferred items noted where applicable.
- Engineering leadership: 10+ years professional software engineering experience and 5+ years managing teams delivering commercial EDA platforms, AI-enabled engineering systems, or production-grade distributed software.
- Customer-facing experience: Proven track record in executive-level technical engagement, QBRs, advisory boards, and joint innovation with semiconductor or hyperscale customers.
- AI & agentic systems: Hands-on architectural fluency with multi-agent orchestration, RAG, knowledge graphs, multimodal EDA data, graph-based models for circuits/netlists, and domain-adapted LLMs for RTL and design collateral.
- Semiconductor domain fluency: Deep understanding of design and verification flows from architecture and RTL through implementation, physical verification, signoff, test, PCB/system design, and manufacturing readiness.
- Systems & infrastructure: Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17/20), Python, distributed microservices, GPU inference scaling, and on-prem/hybrid HPC execution.
- Security and governance: Experience delivering AI in secure, enterprise environments with access controls, auditability, and IP protection.
- Execution: Ability to drive cross-divisional technical consensus, reusable platform investments, and product-quality engineering practices.
- Preferred: Experience deploying AI solutions in air-gapped or multi-tenant environments, converting PoCs into production deployments, and contributing to industry forums or standards.
Education Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
