Software Engineer, Simulation and Virtualization (RDSS Intern)
Role Summary
This internship supports design and development of software for data center system simulation. The role contributes to a simulation platform used to validate and exercise NVIDIA data center hardware and the full software stack.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Suitable for students or recent graduates; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on building and maintaining the data center platform simulator and integrating software components.
- Verify, debug, develop, and design the simulation platform for next-generation data center systems.
- Improve simulation performance and fix bugs across user and kernel stacks.
- Automate execution flows and contribute to CI/CD for simulation workloads.
- Collaborate with hardware modelling, kernel, and platform driver teams to bring the full software stack onto the simulator.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this internship.
- Solid understanding of operating systems and computer architecture.
- Strong programming, debugging, and QA skills, preferably in C/C++.
- Practical experience with CI/CD tools, scripting (Python/Perl/shell), containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and source-control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.).
- Ability to debug across user and kernel space and work in a global, cross-disciplinary team.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of system simulation and virtualization (QEMU, KVM, Xen, Gem5, etc.).
- Experience with ARM and x86 architectures, cross-compiling, and low-level debugging.
- Performance tuning experience (VTune, perf, Valgrind) and multithreading optimization.
- Familiarity with Out-of-Band management interfaces and error injection techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
