Role Summary

Join Arm's Client/Server/IoT software team to develop and test low-level firmware and software stacks for reference application processors and future Arm devices. Work will cover development boards, software models and shipping products.

The role focuses on low-level software design, implementation, test automation, upstreaming, and maintenance to ensure high-quality firmware and platform software delivery.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day and project responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement and test reference application processor firmware and platform software stacks.
  • Low-level software development, debugging and validation on software models, development boards and shipping products.
  • Create and maintain test code and automated test frameworks to reduce manual testing.
  • Analyze industry specifications and roadmap requirements; decompose tasks and deliver project plans.
  • Upstream contributions and ongoing maintenance of software components.

Must-have:

  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Excellent C/C++ skills with ability to add significant functionality and resolve complex defects.
  • Experience in software development and software testing.
  • Expertise in application and low-level systems with strong understanding of system architecture (preferably ARM), OS fundamentals, bootloaders and device drivers.
  • Strong debugging skills and familiarity with CI and test automation methodologies.
  • Effective written and spoken English and strong interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of assembly language and advanced debugging techniques.
  • Experience with Python and shell scripting for tooling and automation.
  • Understanding of the Linux kernel, system software, device drivers and Android internals.
  • Familiarity with open-source development and contribution processes.
  • Experience in software profiling, instrumentation, optimization, and firmware verification/validation.
  • Familiarity with Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices and Agile methodologies.
