Job Title

Software Engineer, Product

Role Summary

As an AI Product Engineer at Normal, you will design and build AI-native products and workflows for semiconductor and hardware engineering teams. The role spans product engineering, AI systems, frontend and backend development, and developer tooling across teams in New York City, Silicon Valley, and London.

Deliver end-to-end features from requirements and prototypes through deployment, evaluation, and iteration, prioritizing usable, reliable, and production-ready experiences for technical users.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 5+ years of experience building and shipping full-stack products, preferably in startup or zero-to-one environments.

Responsibilities

You will own product-facing engineering work across frontend, backend, data, and AI systems to improve chip design and verification workflows.

  • Architect and implement interfaces and workflows that make complex engineering systems usable for chip engineers and agentic systems.
  • Collaborate with AI researchers, backend engineers, and hardware engineers to translate ambiguous workflow problems into concrete requirements and features.
  • Deliver end-to-end product features: design, implement, deploy, evaluate, and iterate across the full stack.
  • Ensure usability, reliability, performance, and polish required for production adoption.
  • Identify and address UX, workflow, and architectural weaknesses to raise product quality.
  • Use AI systems to accelerate development while owning verification and final quality.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 5+ years building and shipping full-stack products.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React; deep understanding of modern frontend architecture.
  • Backend experience in Python, Node.js, or similar and willingness to contribute across the stack.
  • High standards for product and engineering quality, with attention to UX edge cases and maintainable architecture.
  • Experience building AI-powered products or working with LLMs and ML teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in the semiconductor or hardware engineering domain.
  • Background building developer tools, workflow systems, IDE extensions, or technical internal products.
  • Familiarity with harness engineering, orchestration, or evaluation tooling.
  • Experience with visual design or shipping polished user interfaces.
  • Prior experience managing engineers or owning a product end-to-end.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
