Software Engineer (Placement & Route)

Role Summary

Join the Siemens EDA Aprisa R&D team in Taipei as a junior software developer focused on placement and routing within place-and-route (P&R) EDA tools. You will implement algorithms, develop and maintain tool components, and work with senior engineers to deliver product features.

The role includes hands-on engineering, debugging and performance optimization, plus participation in team planning and training activities.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” 1–3 years of relevant experience (early-career).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities center on design, implementation, and support of placement and routing components in EDA software.

  • Implement and maintain placement and routing components in C/C++.
  • Design and optimize algorithms and data structures (graph theory, geometry manipulation).
  • Debug, profile and improve software performance and reliability.
  • Write and maintain tests; participate in code reviews and QA activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to meet project schedules and deliverables.
  • Document designs and participate in technical discussions and training.

Requirements

  • Must-have: 1–3 years experience in P&R EDA tool development, preferably in routing.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and strong algorithm development skills (graph theory, geometry manipulation).
  • Experience with Linux and command-line tools; familiarity with debugging and multithreaded implementations.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with large-scale enterprise software projects.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and scripting languages such as Python, Tcl or Perl.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (as stated in the source).
