Job Title

Electrical Engineer - Semiconductor Design Specialist

Role Summary

Contract electrical engineer supporting the Engineering Department on lithography and optical inspection/metrology systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Work includes system architecture, PCB and industrial control panel design, bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting of control and measurement systems.

This is a contract-to-direct-hire opportunity; candidates will work with a cross-functional engineering team on hardware design, signal integrity, EMI/EMC compliance, and system characterization.

Experience Level

Entry-level to senior candidates considered; typical hires have a minimum of 1+ years of relevant engineering or product development experience (internship experience accepted for junior candidates).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing hardware and control solutions for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and supporting system integration and testing.

  • Define system architecture and design requirements for lithography and optical inspection systems.
  • Design, layout, and bring-up of PCBs and industrial control panels; ensure signal integrity and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, embedded hardware, and measurement electronics in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Design and conduct experiments to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve system performance.
  • Document designs, test results, and support product lifecycle processes from development through validation.
  • Support system integration, commissioning, and occasional domestic or international travel (up to ~5%).

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required for the role; listed items do not duplicate education requirements.

  • Minimum 1+ years of engineering or product development experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment (internship experience accepted).
  • Proficiency with PCB and mechanical design and simulation tools such as Altium Designer, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, OrCAD, SPICE, or MATLAB.
  • Experience with PCB layout, signal integrity, EMI/EMC considerations, and hardware bring-up.
  • Practical experience with control systems and industrial panels.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured product lifecycle processes.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with embedded systems, PLCs, FPGAs, or microcontrollers; prior work on lithography or optical inspection/metrology systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is indicated in the source. Internship experience is accepted for junior candidates.
