Software Engineer II
Role Summary
Responsible for designing and implementing software features for Conformal ECO, Cadence's VLSI ECO automation solution. Work on gate-level patch generation, RTL-to-gate change handling, and tool integration within the Conformal ECO product team.
Collaborate with verification, product, and customer-facing teams to deliver reliable, performant EDA software used in production chip design flows.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Software Engineer II). Typically 3β7 years of professional software development experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement features for the Conformal ECO toolchain, including gate-level patch generation and netlist transformations.
- Analyze RTL changes and develop algorithms to generate minimal gate-level patches.
- Optimize performance and scalability for large designs and large-scale flows.
- Investigate, debug, and resolve functional and integration issues across the product stack.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests, technical documentation, and code reviews.
- Work closely with verification, product management, and customer support to deliver production-quality software.
Requirements
Required and preferred qualifications:
- Must-have: Strong software engineering skills in C/C++ with solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms; experience developing on UNIX/Linux and using version control (Git).
- Must-have: Experience with performance profiling and debugging of large codebases.
- Must-have: Familiarity with digital design concepts and representations (RTL, gate-level) or prior experience in EDA/VLSI tooling.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Python, Tcl) for automation and tool integration.
- Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to ECO flows, synthesis/place-and-route, and customer-facing engineering.
