Software Engineer — GUI Tools
Role Summary
Develop graphical user interface (GUI) tools used by engineering teams to debug, test, and demonstrate Ethernovia's networking hardware and evaluation platforms.
The role works with firmware, drivers, middleware and backend services to enable engineers to interact with and validate hardware during product development.
Experience Level
Mid-level (minimum 3 years relevant experience) and Senior (minimum 7 years relevant experience). Multiple openings at both levels.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and maintaining GUI tooling that interfaces with Ethernovia hardware and backend services.
- Design and implement GUI applications and web interfaces for evaluation platforms and networking devices.
- Integrate user interfaces with REST/gRPC backends, drivers, middleware and device APIs.
- Provide tools that support debugging, testing, validation, and product demonstrations.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to define features, APIs, and test workflows.
- Write and maintain tests, documentation, and maintainable code for toolchains and GUIs.
Requirements
Core technical and interpersonal requirements; listed as must-have and nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, and testing.
- Must-have: Experience developing GUIs, preferably web-based using React.js/Next.js or similar frameworks, and integrating with REST or RPC backends.
- Must-have: Experience integrating and testing open-source middleware, libraries, and device drivers.
- Must-have: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and produce clear documentation.
- Must-have: Self-motivated, strong communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with C/C++ or Python.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with version control workflows (Git, Perforce) and CI/DevOps tools (Jenkins).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with gRPC, Protobuf, or similar RPC technologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
