Associate Embedded Software Engineer, Datacenters & Energy
Role Summary
Develop embedded firmware for datacenter and smart-grid power-management products within the Software and Digital Platforms Group. Deliver real-time, secure, and reliable software for embedded ARM-based systems to support product resilience and monitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (silicon designers, applications, QA) to implement, test, document, and support firmware through beta and post-release phases.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Associate (0β3 years experience preferred). Position is labeled "Associate Embedded Software Engineer."
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing, testing, documenting, and supporting embedded firmware:
- Design and implement real-time embedded applications on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers using C/C++.
- Create and maintain design documentation and customer-facing materials.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software standards and guidelines.
- Develop and execute unit and integration test plans; develop and maintain test tools.
- Analyze test results, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate daily with geographically distributed teams to resolve bugs and capture requirements.
- Provide customer support during beta trials and after release.
- Comply with licensing, code origin control, and documentation practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and desirable additional skills:
- Must-have: Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of processor architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V).
- Must-have: Excellent analytical and debugging abilities; knowledge of digital signal processing techniques.
- Must-have: Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to work in distributed teams.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Python.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
- Nice-to-have: Proficiency with Git, Jira, and Confluence.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with peripherals such as UART and SPI.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is specified.
