Software Engineer (C++/DS/Algorithm)
Role Summary
Develop and maintain Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software components focusing on C/C++, data structures, and algorithms. Work within a Research & Development team building tools that interact with hardware description languages and serve internal and external EDA customers.
Experience Level
Entry / Early-career — minimum 2 years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities and collaboration expectations.
- Design, implement, and maintain software in C and C++ with emphasis on design patterns, efficient data structures, and algorithms.
- Develop tooling that processes or analyzes Hardware Description Languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver production-quality solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, maintain coding standards, and contribute to code quality improvements.
- Debug, profile, and optimize software across multiple platforms.
- Share technical knowledge and participate in technical design discussions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: At least 2 years of industry experience with proficiency in C or C++ and a solid understanding of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Working knowledge of at least one Hardware Description Language (Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively in team environments.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: experience with scripting languages, version control systems (e.g., Perforce), gate-level digital logic design, prior EDA software development, or experience with parallel algorithms/job distribution.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field from a recognized engineering institution — or equivalent practical experience (degree or equivalent experience was specified in the source).
