Job Title

Software Engineer, AI Compiler

Role Summary

Lead development on TT-Forge, Tenstorrent's MLIR-based compiler, and manage a team focused on graph transformations, lowering passes, and kernel-level optimizations. Work closely with hardware, software, and ML teams to ensure the compiler meets real-world performance and deployment requirements.

Experience Level

Open to multiple seniority levels; candidates will be assessed during the interview and offers will align to the assessed level.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Drive design and implementation of MLIR dialects, transformation passes, and lowering flows for TT-Forge.
  • Lead a small engineering team: set priorities, plan roadmap, and provide technical mentorship.
  • Optimize kernels and compiler-generated code to meet performance targets on custom chip architectures.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects, runtime engineers, and ML framework teams to validate and tune end-to-end performance.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the compiler and runtime stack; improve developer workflows and toolchain reliability.
  • Contribute to testing, benchmarking, and CI infrastructure for compiler outputs and kernels.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints:

  • Proven experience building compilers or large-scale language/toolchain infrastructure.
  • Fluency in C++ and Python for compiler and tooling development.
  • Hands-on experience with MLIR, LLVM, or similar compiler infrastructures, including dialect design or optimization passes.
  • Strong understanding of modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX) and how models are transformed and executed.
  • Experience working across teams to ship reliable, scalable tools in fast-paced engineering environments.
  • Leadership, roadmap ownership, and mentorship experience for engineering teams.
  • Employment contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology; offers may depend on citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to obtain required export licenses.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
