Software Engineer (DSP firmware)

Role Summary

Develop firmware for an embedded processor inside a high-performance mixed-signal DSP communication transceiver used in optical interconnect products. Join the Connectivity DSP firmware team working on PAM4 and coherent DSPs for data-center and AI infrastructure.

Work with cross-functional teams (analog, digital, system architects, validation, DV, SW QA) to implement, test, and deliver firmware features and fixes to meet project milestones.

Experience Level

Entry-level — typically 1–3 years of relevant software/firmware experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver assigned firmware components and contribute to project planning and execution.

• Implement and test firmware for embedded processors in a mixed-signal DSP transceiver.
• Participate in SW milestone planning, sprint execution, issue tracking, and bug fixes.
• Architect and plan minor software features; integrate work with the broader project and technical lead.
• Collaborate with analog, digital, validation, system architects, and QA teams to ensure functional integration.
• Complete tasks within agreed timeframes and communicate schedule changes to project management.
• Continuously expand technical skills under guidance from team technical leaders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes.

• Strong scripting and programming skills; Python and C preferred.
• Familiarity with gcc/clang toolchains, GNU make, Jenkins, and git.
• Ability to solve technical challenges with minimal supervision; self-starter and fast learner.
• Experience working on software/firmware projects in small teams (2–8 developers).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (with 1–3 years experience). Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields is a plus.
