Job Title

Software Development Engineer Intern — Strategic Student Program (Fall 2026)

Role Summary

As an intern on the Infrastructure team at Siemens Electronic Board Systems (EBS), you will build developer tools, automation, and integrations that improve code quality, compliance, and developer efficiency across engineering teams. You will work closely with senior engineers on CI/CD, static-analysis integration, and tooling projects.

This is a hands-on, learning-focused position that applies academic coursework to real-world software infrastructure problems.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern. Candidates are expected to be current undergraduate or graduate students with programming coursework (about 2+ years) and foundational software engineering knowledge.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement integration pipelines between static analysis, SCA tools, and defect trackers (e.g., Coverity, SonarQube, Black Duck, JIRA).
  • Write Python and Shell scripts and CI/CD workflows (Jenkins/GitLab CI) to automate compliance reporting and related tasks.
  • Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor code health and support continuous improvement.
  • Document system architectures, create developer onboarding guides, and present technical demonstrations to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • 2+ years of programming coursework with a strong grasp of object-oriented principles; experience with C/C++ or Java preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience writing Python scripts for workflow automation or data parsing.
  • Familiarity with Git and comfortable using the Linux command line.
  • Ability to systematically debug and extend existing codebases.
  • Strong technical communication skills for collaborating with senior engineers and teams.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to static analysis tools or software composition analysis.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and pipeline design; DevOps coursework or projects.
  • Experience with REST APIs, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. Preferred graduation window: 2027–2028.
