Job Title

Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Join the hardware-assisted verification team within Siemens EDA to design, develop and debug software and FPGA-based solutions for the Veloce proFPGA prototyping platform. The role resides in an R&D group focused on FPGA-based verification and system integration.

The position involves close collaboration with software and hardware engineers to integrate system components, validate designs on simulation and prototyping platforms, and deliver performant, reliable verification tools.

Experience Level

Mid-level (no specific years of experience listed).

Responsibilities

Key technical responsibilities include developing FPGA and software components, validating designs, and integrating system modules for hardware-assisted verification.

  • Design and implement FPGA-based solutions and digital HDL modules.
  • Work with timing constraints, capacity planning and performance optimization to achieve timing closure.
  • Validate and test designs using simulation platforms and proFPGA prototyping hardware.
  • Develop low-level validation and support software for platform components.
  • Integrate system components in coordination with the software and hardware teams.
  • Debug RTL designs and simulation failures to root cause and resolve issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools required for the role:

  • Strong digital design skills using HDL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Practical FPGA design experience and familiarity with FPGA toolflows (e.g., Vivado, Quartus) and static timing analysis (STA).
  • Proven RTL debugging and simulation experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented software development.
  • Familiarity with Linux and scripting languages (Tcl, Bash, Python).
  • Experience integrating system components and developing validation software for hardware platforms.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with the proFPGA platform or hardware-assisted verification environments.
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning and timing optimization for complex designs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
