Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, and test systems-level software, compilers, and tools for semiconductor and GPU computing platforms. Work on operating-system level code, compiler optimizations, graphics pipelines, and platform infrastructure to support AMD products.

Contribute to complex technical problems within a specialized engineering team with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on development and validation of software and tools that enable AMD hardware and products.

  • Research, design, implement, and test OS-level software, compilers, and network/distribution software.
  • Develop tools and utilities for design, infrastructure, cloud, and Internet-related platforms.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance software for new and existing products.
  • Apply compiler optimization techniques for GPU computing and influence hardware compatibility decisions.
  • Work on 2D/3D graphics pipelines and related systems.
  • Collaborate on CPU, GPU, and SoC architecture integration and testing.
  • Use engineering judgment within company procedures to select methods and evaluation criteria.
  • Participate in code reviews, validation, and testing activities.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python, C, or C++.
  • Experience with CUDA and Git.
  • Compiler optimization techniques for GPU computing.
  • Familiarity with CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture.
  • OS kernel and systems development experience.
  • Knowledge of 2D/3D graphics and the 3D pipeline.
  • Object-oriented design principles.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Windows internals.
  • Software debugging experience on macOS, Linux, or Unix.
  • Relevant experience may be gained through graduate coursework, research, or internships.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
