Software Architecture Engineer Intern
AmbarellaJob Title
Software Architecture Engineer Intern
Role Summary
Analyze hardware/software trade-offs and build software tools and models that evaluate and visualize co-processor behavior for Ambarella's AI vision processors. Work with the architecture and software teams to enable efficient use of hardware blocks for image processing, video compression, and computer vision at the edge.
Interns deliver prototypes and tools, collaborate with engineers, and present their findings at the end of the internship.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship (intern).
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities for this internship include:
- Analyze hardware and software trade-offs in current chip designs.
- Develop software models of hardware behaviors (e.g., memory bandwidth, pipeline latency).
- Create visualization and analysis tools to illustrate architecture behavior.
- Produce support tools to help software use hardware co-processors efficiently.
- Collaborate with engineers across teams and present project results at program end.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Experience with modern programming languages and software development (examples: C++, C, Python).
- Familiarity with low-level programming and scripting (examples: assembly, Perl).
- Basic understanding of computer architecture and hardware/software interaction.
- Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly, meet deliverables, and communicate results clearly.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to neural network frameworks such as Caffe or TensorFlow.
Education Requirements
Students near completion of a Masters degree are preferred. Relevant fields include Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Architecture, VLSI, Image Processing, Video Compression, and Computer Vision. Enrollment in a graduate program (Masters) is the primary educational expectation stated.
