Job Title

Software / Applications Engineer - ASIP Designer Tools

Role Summary

Engineer for the ASIP Designer tool-suite working on development, implementation, verification, and application of Application-Specific Instruction-set Processors (ASIPs) and related tools.

Work spans compiler technology, processor modeling and verification, customer-facing applications engineering, and AI-assisted processor development, collaborating across software, architecture, hardware design, verification, and customers.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Specific years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Contribute to tool development and customer enablement for ASIP-based processor design.

  • Design, implement, and maintain compiler and code-generation components (LLVM-based and related).
  • Develop instruction-set simulators, cycle- and instruction-accurate models, and generate synthesizable RTL (Verilog/VHDL) outputs.
  • Create verification infrastructure: automatic test generation, property-based formal checks, and support verification flows.
  • Support customers: analyze applications, prototype processor features, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide evaluation and integration support.
  • Research and integrate AI-assisted capabilities into the ASIP Designer tool-suite to accelerate processor development tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, verification, software, and customers) to deliver production-quality tools.

Requirements

Core technical skills and collaborative abilities required; listed advantages are preferred but not mandatory.

  • Must-have: Strong programming skills in C and/or C++.
  • Must-have: Solid problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of or strong interest in processor and computer architecture and in developing software tools for processor design.
  • Must-have: Good communication and collaboration skills for customer-facing and team work.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with LLVM, GCC, MLIR, compiler optimizations and code generation.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with processor/DSP architectures, embedded C/C++ and assembly, and instruction-set simulation.
  • Nice-to-have: RTL design experience (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL), SystemC/TLM, UVM, or processor verification/formal verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Background in DSP algorithms, domain-specific programming models, or AI/ML applied to software engineering tools.

Education Requirements

MSc or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (explicitly stated). No alternative "equivalent experience" language provided in the posting.
