ASIC EDA Infrastructure Engineer Intern
Meta PlatformsJob Title
ASIC EDA Infrastructure Engineer Intern
Role Summary
Join the Infrastructure ASIC team to develop EDA flows, automation, and infrastructure that support efficient SoC and IP design for data center applications. As an intern, you will execute a scoped 12-week project that contributes to ASIC design productivity while working with and learning from experienced engineers.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Internship). Intended for current undergraduate students enrolled in a degree program.
Responsibilities
Work on a defined project within the EDA infrastructure team and contribute to tooling, automation, and documentation.
- Develop and test front-end or physical design implementation flows.
- Build or improve internal automation tools (e.g., RTL generation, memory selection automation, register generation, filelist generation).
- Write and maintain scripts to support day-to-day design flow tasks.
- Document EDA flows, tool behavior, and evaluation findings.
- Collaborate with compute, storage, and job-scheduling teams to improve infrastructure efficiency.
- Support adaptation of source control, continuous integration, data management, and reporting for ASIC workflows.
- Present project results and recommendations to the team at the end of the internship.
Requirements
Key must-have and nice-to-have skills and conditions for candidates.
- Must-have: Programming or scripting experience in Python; exposure to Tcl or shell scripting.
- Must-have: Interest in developer tooling, automation, build systems, or compute infrastructure.
- Must-have: Ability to communicate technical work clearly and collaborate across teams.
- Must-have: Must obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment at time of hire.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on exposure to industry EDA tools (coursework, lab/research project, tapeout, design competition, or prior internship).
- Nice-to-have: Experience building automation, scripts, or developer tooling in a team or open-source setting.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with version control (Git/Mercurial) and continuous integration concepts.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to Linux environments, job scheduling, or distributed compute.
- Nice-to-have: Demonstrated focus on user experience and customer-oriented solutions.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a B.S. degree program (undergraduate) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Coursework or project exposure to digital design or ASIC design fundamentals and exposure to RTL design using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or another HDL are expected. Candidates must intend to return to a full-time degree program after the internship.
