SOC Verification with Post Silicon Validation
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
SoC Verification Engineer β Post-Silicon Validation
Role Summary
Lead and execute SoC verification activities from planning through tape-out, focusing on advanced power management, debug/trace infrastructure, and alignment between pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation.
Work collaboratively with Architecture, RTL Design, Firmware, and Lab Validation teams to ensure functional correctness, coverage closure, and fast root-cause analysis of silicon issues.
Experience Level
Senior level. Preferred 8β12 years of hands-on ASIC/SoC verification experience with tape-out history.
Responsibilities
Accountable for verification strategy, implementation, and sign-off for server-class SoC subsystems.
- Architect and execute power-aware verification for low-power states, PMU, DVFS, and clock/reset sequencing using UPF/CPF.
- Verify complex debug and trace infrastructures (JTAG, hardware triggers, breakpoints, trace networks such as ARM CoreSight).
- Develop and maintain hybrid verification environments combining SystemVerilog/UVM and C/C++ for system-level use cases.
- Create portable test content for emulation and post-silicon platforms; collaborate with lab teams to reproduce post-silicon failures in pre-silicon environments.
- Drive functional, code, assertion (SVA), and scenario-based coverage to meet tape-out sign-off criteria.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Must-have: Extensive hands-on ASIC/SoC verification experience and proven tape-out delivery.
- Must-have: Proficiency in SystemVerilog, UVM, and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
- Must-have: Experience with C/C++ or assembly for embedded bring-up and hybrid verification flows.
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of low-power verification methodologies, UPF/CPF and gate-level power-aware simulations.
- Must-have: Deep familiarity with debug protocols (JTAG, IEEE 1149.x) and trace/debug architectures.
- Must-have: Understanding of SoC infrastructure: AMBA protocols (AXI/AHB/APB/CHI), memory controllers, and interrupt controllers.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation and post-silicon validation workflows and lab collaboration for failure triage.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
