Job Title
SoC Verification Technical Lead
Role Summary
Lead verification execution and teams for customer SoC, subsystem, and IP projects within the System Solutions Group (SSG). Work directly with customer engineering teams to define scope, deliverables, and verification strategy from planning through signoff.
This role focuses on practical verification planning, complex debug, VIP integration, and improving verification methodology to reduce cycle time and risk for tapeout.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on SoC, subsystem, or IP verification experience and proven experience leading small teams (typically 3–8 engineers).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading verification projects, mentoring engineers, and coordinating with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Lead verification execution from planning through signoff for SoC, subsystem, and IP projects.
- Build and manage teams (3–8 engineers): assign tasks, review testbenches and coverage, and mentor through debug.
- Develop verification plans mapping requirements to testbench architecture, coverage goals, and resources; track and adjust execution.
- Integrate and deploy VCS, Verdi, and third-party VIP for protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR) into customer environments.
- Debug complex multi-protocol, multi-domain SoC issues using waveform and coverage analysis and cross-team collaboration.
- Identify project risks early, propose mitigations, and communicate status to Synopsys and customer stakeholders.
- Drive methodology improvements (UVM reuse, regression optimization, tool adoption) across the verification team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
Must have:
- 5+ years of hands-on SoC, subsystem, or IP verification experience, including verification planning and coverage analysis.
- Deep expertise in UVM testbench development and complex multi-domain debug.
- Proven track record leading verification teams through full project cycles and delivering to customer schedules.
- Working knowledge of industry-standard protocols and how they interact in SoC architectures (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR).
- Hands-on proficiency with Synopsys VCS and Verdi or equivalent waveform/analysis tools; experience integrating third-party VIP.
- Solid understanding of ASIC design flows and RTL design concepts and how verification integrates with development.
Nice to have:
- Experience with ARM-based technologies (Coresight debug, processor architecture, AMBA protocols).
- Experience working with customer-facing verification engagements in AI, automotive, aerospace, or HPC domains.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field specified by the employer.
