Job Title
SOC Verification - Sr. Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for planning and executing verification for processor-based SoCs within the Systems Solutions Group. Works with architects, RTL designers, and post‑silicon teams to develop verification strategies, testbenches, and automation to find critical bugs before tapeout.
The role includes mentoring junior engineers and raising verification methodology and reuse across customer projects that include protocols such as AXI, USB, PCIe, and MIPI.
Experience Level
Senior; the posting specifies 2–5 years of hands-on IP or SoC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Build verification test plans from design specs for processor-based SoCs, defining scope, coverage goals, and real-world test scenarios.
- Develop and maintain SystemVerilog testbenches and UVM environments; integrate vendor and third-party VIP.
- Author and analyze SystemVerilog assertions; measure and close code, toggle, and functional coverage.
- Debug complex multi-clock-domain simulation failures using VCS, waveform viewers, and scripting to isolate root causes.
- Mentor junior verification engineers on testbench architecture, debug sessions, and design bring-up.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, and post-silicon teams to align verification strategy with design intent and silicon validation plans.
- Automate regression and test flows using shell, Makefiles, Perl, or similar scripting.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Strong working knowledge of SystemVerilog and UVM in processor-based SoC verification environments.
- Experience with VCS and waveform debugging tools; integrating third-party VIP into testbenches.
- Solid understanding of AXI and AMBA protocol variants and corner-case behavior.
- Proficiency in scripting to automate regressions and post-process simulation results (shell, Makefiles, Perl).
- Working knowledge of ASIC design flow and RTL design concepts.
- Ability to debug complex simulation failures and trace signals across clock domains.
- Nice-to-have: ARM core verification experience and familiarity with USB, PCIe, or MIPI protocols.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related technical field (for example Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science) as specified in the posting.
