SoC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for functional verification of SoCs and subsystems to ensure first-time-right silicon. Work within the SOC Verification team and collaborate with design, architecture, IP providers, firmware/software, DFT and backend teams to plan, execute and close verification activities.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires 4+ years of SOC/Chip/Subsystem verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, building and executing verification for SoC and subsystem designs, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to close issues.

• Develop and maintain verification plans that map to product requirements and specifications.
• Build and extend pre-silicon verification environments for IP, subsystems and SoC-level testing.
• Execute verification plans and coverage closure to achieve project goals.
• Create subsystem/SoC verification and coverage strategies and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with design, architecture, IP providers, FW/SW, DFT and backend teams to debug and close issues.
• Drive task closure, communicate status, and coordinate across local and multi-site teams.
• Automate verification tasks and improve operational efficiency through scripting and tooling.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.

• 4+ years of experience in SOC/Chip-level, cluster or subsystem verification.
• Experience with microcontroller/microprocessor architectures and ARM cores (A/M/R series); knowledge of interconnects (e.g., NIC, FlexNoC) and cache coherency.
• Familiarity with bus and memory protocols: AHB/AMBA, AXI, ACE, OCP, flash/SRAM/ROM and memory controllers.
• Experience with serial and peripheral protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN and multimedia/networking protocols like MIPI CSI-2.
• Good understanding of ARM debug subsystems and protocols (SWD, JTAG).
• Practical experience with SystemVerilog and UVM for IP/subsystem and SoC verification.
• Assembly and C programming skills (mandatory).
• Scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python) to improve verification efficiency.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience applying formal verification methods.

Education Requirements

BSEE or MSEE in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years' experience in the semiconductor industry.
