Job Title

SoC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

The SoC Verification Engineer designs and executes verification plans and reusable UVM-based test environments to validate complex System-on-Chip (SoC) designs in presilicon. The role works with architects, RTL developers, postsilicon teams, and physical design teams to find and resolve functional issues and improve verification strategies.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Candidates should have multiple years of hands-on SoC verification experience; see Education Requirements for the degree-specific experience expectations.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on developing verification infrastructure, executing verification campaigns, and debugging presilicon failures.

  • Design and maintain scalable block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans.
  • Create and update UVM-based testbenches and verification environments aligned with microarchitecture specifications.
  • Generate and run test cases, including emulation and system-level simulations, to validate design functionality.
  • Debug and root-cause presilicon failures; implement corrective actions and regression tests.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL, postsilicon, and physical design teams to improve verification coverage for complex features.
  • Document test plans and drive technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Integrate security-related coverage into verification plans and regressions.
  • Maintain and enhance functional verification infrastructure and methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for effective performance in this role.

  • Hands-on experience with OVM/UVM methodologies and test planning; creation/updating of UVM-based testbenches.
  • Experience with AMBA protocols such as CHI, AXI, AHB, and APB and use of industry-standard VIP from EDA vendors.
  • Experience using emulation and system simulation tools to exercise verification plans and analyze performance.
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills in presilicon environments.
  • Ability to document test plans and lead technical reviews.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: postsilicon validation experience and experience incorporating postsilicon feedback into presilicon test plans; familiarity with emulation models for performance analysis.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 4+ years of hands-on SoC design verification experience. Alternate: Master's degree in the same fields with 3+ years of hands-on SoC design verification experience. Fields explicitly mentioned: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields.
