SOC Verification and Methodology Engineer — Staff
Role Summary
Responsible for verification and methodology for SoC/ASIC blocks and SoC integration within ASICS Engineering. Collaborates with architecture, software, product and program teams to deliver high-performance, low-power IP and SoC designs.
Experience Level
Staff / Senior level. Preferred candidates typically have 6+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration experience; minimum experience guidance varies by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include:
- Define and execute verification plans, methodology and infrastructure for complex SoC/IP blocks.
- Design verification architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
- Use and evaluate EDA/design tool flows (RTL-to-GDS, synthesis, place & route, timing and power analysis) and custom layout flows.
- Implement verification flows, validate integration into SoC, and debug silicon issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop implementation strategies that meet system and customer requirements.
- Write and review technical documentation and provide guidance to other engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Significant ASIC/SoC verification and design experience; preferred 6+ years in related roles.
- Working knowledge of verification methodologies and verification toolchains.
- Experience with architecture and design tools and RTL-to-GDS flows; familiarity with custom/analog flows is a plus.
- Proficiency with scripting and programming for automation and methodology (for example Python, TCL, Perl, etc.).
- Strong debugging, problem solving, and written/verbal communication skills; proven ability to interact with senior leadership.
- Ability to work independently, plan work, and provide supervision or mentorship to others.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Virtuoso or similar analog/custom design tools.
- Prior responsibility influencing architecture or organizational methodology decisions.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years. Preferred: Master’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
