SOC Subsystem Physical Design Lead
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
SOC Subsystem Physical Design Lead
Role Summary
Lead planning, implementation, and execution of physical design and verification for processing-subsystem IP to achieve signoff criteria required for tapeout.
Work with a distributed engineering team across sites/timezones, coordinating implementation, verification, and signoff activities for complex processor-related designs.
Experience Level
Senior level. Preferred experience: 12+ years in physical design or related domains.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include ownership of physical implementation and verification activities for subsystem IP through tapeout signoff. Collaborate with cross-site teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Plan and drive block-level and top-level physical implementation for processing subsystems.
- Implement and execute verification to meet signoff criteria for tapeout.
- Coordinate work across multiple sites and timezones; communicate status and technical issues clearly.
- Ensure designs meet node-specific requirements (lower-node technologies, e.g. 5nm and below).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members; participate in reviews and troubleshooting.
Requirements
Key skills and background required or strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with block-level and top-level physical implementation flows.
- Practical experience with lower-node process technologies (5nm or below).
- Proficient with EDA tools such as Innovus, Fusion Compiler / IC Compiler II, PrimeTime, or similar.
- Familiarity with scripting for automation (TCL; Python preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and timezones.
- Nice-to-have: experience on low-power or processor designs; prior leadership or mentorship experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
