Job Title

SoC RTL Verification Intern

Role Summary

Work on pre-silicon verification of SoC and IP blocks within Intel's Silicon and Platform Engineering Group (SPE). The role focuses on implementing and executing RTL-level validation, creating UVM-based testbenches, and supporting regression and volume validation to ensure design correctness prior to tape-out.

This position requires on-site presence in Shanghai and is intended for students or recent graduates participating in an internship program.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Internship (student or recent graduate). No specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include pre-silicon verification, validation infrastructure, and documentation across IP and subsystem levels.

  • Develop UVM-based testbenches and test cases for IP and SoC verification.
  • Create RTL validation test plans and run RTL and gate-level (GLS) simulations.
  • Execute system simulations, analyze failures, and debug root causes.
  • Build and maintain regression and volume-validation infrastructure.
  • Document test plans and results across IP libraries, complex IPs, and subsystems.
  • Contribute to verification methodology and infrastructure improvements.
  • Adopt and apply industry-standard verification tools and techniques (formal verification, low-power verification, performance analysis, co-simulation).

Requirements

Key technical skills and attributes required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in SystemVerilog/Verilog and experience with UVM methodology.
  • Must-have: Scripting skills for testbench automation and infrastructure (e.g., Python, Perl, Tcl).
  • Must-have: Familiarity with RTL and gate-level simulation flows.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of common on-chip protocols and interfaces such as AXI, AHB/APB and network-on-chip (NOC) concepts.
  • Must-have: Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Pre-silicon verification experience with x86, ARM, or RISC cores.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with formal methods, low-power verification, performance verification, or co-simulation techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
