Job Title

SoC RTL Engineer

Role Summary

Join Tenstorrent's Tokyo SoC team to implement and optimize chiplet-based SoC RTL. You will work with senior engineers to develop and integrate compute, interconnect, and memory-heavy blocks, and support verification and backend teams through the full ASIC flow.

This is a hybrid role based out of the Tokyo office. Employment is contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology; offers may be rescinded if eligibility or required licenses cannot be obtained.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Junior β€” ideal for recent graduates or engineers with internship/early-career experience. Candidates at various experience levels may be considered and will be assessed during interviews.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL implementation, verification support, and cross-team collaboration to deliver silicon-ready IP and SoC components.

  • Write and modify RTL (SystemVerilog) for custom IP blocks and SoC components under mentorship.
  • Assist design and integration of compute, interconnect, and memory-intensive blocks.
  • Support verification using emulation, FPGA prototyping, and basic UVM flows.
  • Collaborate with backend synthesis, timing-closure, physical design, DV, and firmware teams.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and debugging sessions to improve quality and performance.
  • Apply PPA (power, performance, area) considerations during RTL implementation and optimization.

Requirements

Concise list of required and preferred qualifications.

Must-have

  • Solid foundational understanding of computer architecture and digital logic design.
  • Hands-on experience with RTL development using SystemVerilog (academic projects or internships acceptable).
  • Awareness of PPA trade-offs and basic performance/power-oriented design thinking.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to work hybrid from the Tokyo office (flexible hours, remote options available).
  • Ability to satisfy U.S. export-control requirements for access to controlled technology (may affect employment eligibility).

Nice-to-have

  • Basic knowledge of RISC-V architecture.
  • Familiarity with on-chip fabric/interconnect design, DFT, or hardware debug techniques.
  • Experience with FPGA prototyping, emulation platforms, or UVM-based verification.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
