Job Title
SoC Pre-Silicon Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Perform functional pre-silicon verification for SoC blocks, subsystems and full-chip to ensure designs meet specifications. Develop and execute verification plans, scalable testbenches and verification environments; run emulation and simulation to analyze power, performance and functional correctness; reproduce, root-cause and debug presilicon issues; and work with architects, RTL developers, post-silicon and physical design teams to close coverage and quality gaps.
Position reports into SoC verification within the Data Center Group and requires on-site presence in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Experience Level
Entry-level / early career. Minimum: ~6 months industry experience in verification methodologies. Preferred: multiple years (2β3+) of SystemVerilog/UVM and pre-silicon verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities and debugging complex SoC behavior.
- Define and implement block, subsystem and SoC verification plans and coverage targets.
- Design and maintain scalable, reusable testbenches and verification IP/environments.
- Develop and run emulation and system simulation models to verify functionality, power and performance.
- Reproduce, root-cause and debug presilicon failures and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with SoC architects, microarchitects, RTL engineers, postsilicon and physical design teams to resolve issues and improve verification completeness.
- Document test plans and participate in technical reviews of verification strategy and results.
- Integrate security verification activities into test plans and regression suites.
- Maintain and improve verification infrastructure, automation and regression flows.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills for the role.
-
Must-have: 6+ months of experience with industry-standard verification methodologies such as UVM or SystemVerilog or digital design.
-
Must-have: Advanced English proficiency and unrestricted permanent right to work in Mexico (no visa sponsorship).
- Experience with simulation and emulation tools and workflows; ability to debug presilicon issues.
-
Nice-to-have: SystemVerilog and UVM (3+ years preferred); Python for test automation.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with VCS, Xcelium, Questa or similar simulators and with ARM-based SoC architectures.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of memory subsystems, cache coherency, power management, AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB) and interconnects.
-
Nice-to-have: C/C++ and scripting (Perl, Tcl, Shell), formal tools and coverage analysis, constrained-random and assertion-based verification.
-
Nice-to-have: Linux/Unix, version control (Git, Perforce), regression testing and CI/CD pipeline experience, and security verification methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required.
