SoC Power Management Validation Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
SoC Power Management Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Join Intel's Power Management Validation team to validate SoC power technologies across idle and active power management, overclocking and platform interactions. Work across silicon, firmware, BIOS and operating systems to develop validation strategies, execute debug investigations, and ensure power-management quality for client platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level - requires approximately 3+ years of relevant post-silicon, system validation, or platform debug experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation, debugging, and driving product readiness for power-management features.
- Validate SoC power features: package and subsystem idle states (PkgC, low power idle, S0ix), active power management, turbo/overclocking, and frequency/voltage optimization.
- Develop validation strategies, test plans, and automated test content across silicon, firmware, BIOS, and OS layers.
- Investigate and root-cause issues such as idle residency escapes, wake latency, power-performance regressions, frequency-scaling anomalies, and thermal throttling.
- Perform analysis using silicon debug tools, firmware traces, telemetry logs, and power measurement equipment.
- Analyze power consumption, residency behavior, and performance-per-watt under real customer workloads.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware, BIOS, software, and product teams to close issues and achieve milestone signoff.
- Develop automation and AI-driven validation methods to improve coverage, debug efficiency, and validation velocity.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 3+ years of experience in post-silicon validation, system validation, power management, firmware, or platform debug.
- Strong understanding of SoC and x86 architecture and power management concepts (idle and active states).
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for automation and debug.
- Proven debugging and root-cause analysis skills across silicon, firmware, BIOS, and system-level interactions.
- Experience with silicon debug tools, telemetry logging, and power measurement equipment.
- Ability to develop test plans, automation, and data-driven validation content.
- Collaborative communication skills to work with cross-functional engineering teams and drive issues to closure.
Nice to have:
- Hands-on experience with Idle PM, Active PM, Overclocking/Turbo, S0ix, or package power states.
- Familiarity with power telemetry, power delivery, and performance-per-watt optimization.
- Experience with AI-assisted debug or data-driven validation methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
