Job Title

SoC Platform Engineer

Role Summary

E-Space develops LEO communication systems; this role owns IP integration, system-level verification, and firmware development for a custom SoC.

Hands-on position bridging hardware and software from IP bring-up through full-chip validation and release to manufacturing.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

The role is responsible for bringing up IP and validating SoC-level features, test infrastructure, and firmware.

  • Evaluate, integrate, and verify IP blocks within the SoC ensuring correct connectivity and interoperability.
  • Author targeted bare-metal test firmware for module-level bring-up and verification.
  • Develop subsystem-level firmware to validate interactions between integrated components.
  • Define, implement, and maintain system-level testbenches for subsystem and full-SoC scenarios.
  • Own and manage testbench build flows to ensure reproducibility and scalability.
  • Implement SoC security features such as secure boot, root of trust, and cryptographic accelerator integration.
  • Define and implement inter-subsystem communication fabrics and AMBA-based interconnects (AXI, AHB, APB).
  • Implement hardware power-management features including power-domain control, clock gating, and low-power transitions.
  • Define SoC boot architecture including reset sequencing, configuration registers, and boot ROM integration.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and maintain technical integration and verification documentation.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Proficiency in RTL design/verification using SystemVerilog and/or VHDL.
  • Experience with UVM or similar structured verification methodologies.
  • Ability to write bare-metal C firmware for hardware bring-up and test automation.
  • Strong knowledge of AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB) and SoC interconnects.
  • Understanding of SoC architecture: subsystem partitioning, memory maps, interrupt routing, and HW/SW interfaces.
  • Familiarity with simulation and hardware debug tools (e.g., VCS, Questa, Xcelium, JTAG, logic analyzers).
  • Proficiency in scripting for build automation and test infrastructure (Python, Tcl, Bash, Makefiles).
  • Experience with Git or similar version control systems.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ARM Corstone reference designs and Cortex-M/A integration.
  • Familiarity with TrustedFirmware-M, MCUboot, or PSA-certified security architectures.
  • Knowledge of embedded security concepts, cryptography, or post-quantum cryptography.
  • Experience with formal verification, FPGA emulation platforms, or pre-silicon validation.
  • Familiarity with NPU/DSP processors, 3GPP network protocols for modem/connectivity subsystems, or low-power design (UPF/CPF).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
